My grandfather's sister worked at Quaker Lace. He left school at 8 to work at the Cramp Shipyard. When I retire I will write that novel.

Jax, thank you. My grandmother, but also: our city. I learned so much new about her. She became more vivid to me in 1918 than at any other era in our history. It was all that yarn. The sight and the sounds of that yarn.
